Ninth District Congressman Urging Swift Distribution Of CARES Act Funding
Virginia Ninth District Congressman Morgan Griffith, along with bipartisan support from other Virginia legislators are urging the United States Department of Health and Human Services to swiftly distribute up to 25 billion dollars dedicated to skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities to battle the COVID-19 crisis. Congress recently approved the 100 billion dollar CARES Act in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Virginians in long term care facilities are some of the most threatened and vulnerable when it comes to preventing COVID-19 infection. On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Canterberry Rehabilitation Healthcare Center near RIchmond reported 35 patients at that facility have died from the COVID-19 virus.
