UPDATE: Remains found in West Virginia identified as missing Buchanan County man

Remains found at a McDowell County, West Virginia outdoor spot have been identified as a missing Southwest Virginia man.

FBI forensics tests were done to determine the body was that of Lonnie Meadows, 65, of Jewell Valley in Buchanan County. He was first reported missing in May 2019, according to a report from Sheriff John McClanahan.

A month after his disappearance, a body was discovered in the Berwind Lake Management Area and the sheriff’s office is treating Meadows’ case as a homicide.
