University of Tennessee taking $40M loss due to COVID-19
Refunds to students for boarding and meal plans totaling more than $28 million are part of the University of Tennessee’s estimated $40 million loss due to the coronavirus pandemic.
UT President Randy Boyd says campus and health officials continue to develop various plans to welcome students back to Knoxville if national and state guidelines change.
Those changes could allow in-person classroom time with social distancing. In terms of Volunteer Football, Boyd said that will be a decision for the Southeastern Conference but noted impacts to the university’s financial health would be substantial if there is no football this fall.
