Tennessee Jobless Rate In March Doesn’t Include COVID-19 Impact
Newly released unemployment data shows the Tennessee jobless rate dropped in two thirds of Tennessee’s 95 counties, which is a strong report, but the figures do not include the impact of the COVID-19 health emergency. The federal government conducted the survey during the second week of March, but the figures do not take into effect the unprecedented number of workers out of a job the third and fourth week of March when COVID-19 was hitting the region hard. To get a truer picture of the economic devastation concerning joblessness in Tennessee the statewide unemployment rate will be released next month.
