Shooting investigation underway in Johnson County, TBI assisting in the case
One man has been arrested and an investigation is underway following a reported shooting in the Trade community of Johnson County Wednesday afternoon.
According to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, they were called to the area of Highway 67 North and found a man lying in the roadway with what they say appeared to be a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim, identified as Vernon Roark, was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center to be treated for injuries.
Police identified the suspect as Marlin Thomas, who deputies located behind his home armed with a gun. Thomas was taken into custody following a brief struggle.
Thomas is charged with attempted second degree murder, and is being held in the Johnson County jail. The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the TBI, and more charges are pending.
