UVA Researching Antiviral Drug Against COVID-19
An antiviral drug, tested against COVID-19 at the University of Virginia is helping patients with advanced cases of the disease recover 31 percent faster that patients who received a placebo. Remdesirvir has been tested at UVA and other hospitals around the world and patients who took the drug recovered faster than patients who received the placebo. Remdesivir will now move into a second phase of testing and will be compared to another drug, to see which is a more effective treatment.
