Advisory For No Recreational Use Of Clinch River In Russell County Still In Place
Last month, the Virginia Department of Health issued an advisory warning and recommendation against recreational water use by people and pets as well as consuming fish from a portion of the Clinch River in Russell County, due to problems with the wastewater treatment plant serving the town of Cleveland. And now with the beginning of the spring and summer recreational water season this month, the VDH reminds everyone the advisories remain in effect until further notice. In April the treatment plant was severely damaged and repairs are underway, but there remains a possibility that raw sewage may overflow from the plant and enter the Clinch River from the campground in the Town of Cleveland to the public boat ramp at Carterton
