Virginia Governor Takes Final Action On Biennial Budget
When the Virginia legislature reconvened in April, lawmakers sent the proposed 2021-2022 operating budget back to the Governor for his review. On Thursday, the Governor signed a two year budget totaling more than 67 billion dollars the first year and more than 68 billion in 2022. House Bill 30 made investments in environmental protection, workforce training, early childhood education and other priorities. The Governor and legislators agreed in April to pause any new spending while also allowing flexibility to direct state funds where they are most needed in response to COVID-19.
