TDOT to halt all construction related lane closures today, VSP increasing patrol for Memorial Day Weekend

With travel on TN and VA roadways expected to pick up this weekend for Memorial Day, a pair of state agencies have issued information to those planning to travel.

In Tennessee, the state’s department of transportation is halting all construction related lane closures on interstates and state routes as of 12:00 p.m Friday through 6:00 a.m Tuesday. Meanwhile in VA, state police officials have announced an increase in patrol as part of a national program intended to increase safety on the roadways while reducing things like crashes and speeding.

AAA is not issuing a travel forecast for this holiday period due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
