Speeding Leads To Weapon And Drug Charges In Johnson City
A traffic stop for speeding was the least of the worries for a Johnson City man Sunday. 24 year old Juan A. Gonzales of Pardee Street was pulled over for going 75 mph in a 60 mph speed zone. During the investigation, officers discovered a strong smell of marijuana. Following a search, officers located a backpack containing several baggies of pot, scales, along with a loaded Glock 21 handgun. Gonzales is charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and is being held in the Washington County Tennessee Detention Center and will be arraigned on Tuesday.
