UPDATE: Virginia’s Chiefs of Police group thinks Northam’s mask law puts employees, officers in danger
A law enforcement organization is voicing concerns about Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s mask order that went into effect on Friday.
A letter to Northam from Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police Executive Director Dana Schrad says local departments do not have the manpower to patrol every business and it puts untrained store employees in a position that could result in violence if the customer fails to comply.
Schrad also said the mask decision should be handled by the business community and local governments.
