JCPenney to close 154 stores including Kingsport location
One of two JCPenney locations left in the Tri-Cities region will soon close its doors permanently.
The retail chain released a list on its website Thursday of plans to shutter 154 locations across 38 states, which features six store closures in the state of TN, including the Fort Henry Mall JCPenney in Kingsport. The mass closure follows last month’s move by the company to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
JCPenney officials say store closing sales for the first round of store closures are expected to take 10 to 16 weeks to complete.
