Tennessee School Voucher Program Put On Hold, Due To Slashed Budget
The State of Tennessee’s School Voucher Program is being put on hold as funding for the plan is slashed. The program was funded at 22 million dollars but has been cut to about 16 million dollars. Add to that, the Tennessee Supreme Court’s recent ruling to set an August date for a State appeal has all but killed the measure for another year. Finance Commissioner Butch Eley says the Governor is still committed to funding the program, but the funds will not be used this school year.
