UPDATE: Additional funding available to help feed Tennessee children during pandemic

Parents of Tennessee students can apply for additional help to pay for their child’s meals due to potential financial hardship from the coronavirus.

A new Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer program can supply up to $5.70 per day for qualifying children. According to Education Secretary Penny Schwinn the option helps support a unified effort from those in education and others who are making sure students get the nutrition they need at this time.

Parents who already receive SNAP benefits do not have to apply for additional funding. Those who do not can call 1-833-496-0661. Applications must be processed by June 29.
