SkyBridge in Gatlinburg back open after guest’s ‘baseball slide’ causes chip in glass support
A crack in North America’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge forced officials to close the Gatlinburg SkyBridge to close the attraction Monday evening just after 8:30.
A statement issued by the owners of the Gatlinburg SkyLift Park said a guest did a baseball-style slide and a metal object on their clothing caused the glass support to chip and cause a crack in the top layer of the protective panel.
The bridge was reopened Tuesday morning after crews repaired the damaged surface with cedar planks covering the area.
