Tennessee Firefighters Helping Out In New Mexico
Nearly two dozen Tennessee Division of Forestry firefighters are assisting New Mexico state local fire departments, who are battling wildfires in that region. The Tennessee Forestry Division says in a news release that 20 incident commanders, tree removers, and firefighters have been sent to central New Mexico to assist efforts there. Tennessee’s State Forestry Division’s Fire Management Unit spent the past year building capacity to send employees to out of state wildfires and other emergency incidents when fire threats are low and resources are available to lend a hand in other states.
