ASD Launches “Groundwork” Workforce Development Program
A new program is launching in Southwest Virginia that will provide paid, on the job training to individuals with barriers to employment. Groundwork is a project of Appalachian Sustainable Development and works to remove barriers to employment like former incarceration, previous substance abuse, foster care and even the lack of a high school diploma. Debbie Browning with Appalachian Sustainable Development says the agency has worked hard to build a robust program that delivers valuable knowledge and skills that strikes a balance between hands on, job specific training and professional development in teamwork, initiative, and problem solving. Program participants can work either in Bristol or Duffield. For more information go to asdevelop.org as well as the ASD Facebook page.
