Governor Lee signs bill that allows public school students to have one hour of religious instruction
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has signed into law a bill that authorizes local boards of education to adopt a policy that will allow students to have one hour of religious instruction each day.
The legislation provides the option for the religious release hour upon the request of the student’s parent or legal guardian. The organization that provides the moral class must provide transportation for the public school student to go to and from the instruction.
The bill also has an option that will allow the school system to be reimbursed if they have the means to transport the child to the class.
