Ninth District To Share More Than A Half Million Dollars For Public Services
Southwest Virginia’s Ninth District is receiving more than a half million dollars for public services as part of the Community Facilities Direct Loan and Grant Program. Congressman Morgan Griffith says rural areas often face challenges in funding public services. The United States Department of Agriculture is funding the projects that will help pay for important equipment and infrastructure. The Town of Haysi, Pennington Gap, The City of Norton, Kids Central, the Town of Floyd and the City of Galax will share the funds which will purchase such items as law enforcement vehicles, Sanitation trucks, buses and upgrades to radios and communication equipment for fire departments.
