Sheriff: Washington County Detention Center inmate tests positive for coronavirus

An inmate housed at the Washington County, Tennessee Detention Center has tested positive for COVID-19.

Sheriff Ed Graybeal made the announcement Thursday night, stating in a news release that the inmate was at a local hospital. Any inmates that were possibly exposed will be isolated in a jail pod and closely monitored for symptoms.

Sheriff’s Office employees who had direct contact with the positive inmate are being quarantined and also monitored for symptoms. Graybeal’s office will work closely with the Washington County Health Department for guidance while monitoring the situation.
