KPD: Two taken to the hospital in shooting and assault at apartment complex

An investigation is ongoing this morning in Kingsport after police say two people were seriously injured in a shooting and assault late Thursday night.

Officers were called to Miller Village Apartments around 10:00 p.m and located two seriously injured victims outside one of the apartment buildings. A report said both had been assaulted inside one of the apartments, including a 22-year old male victim who had severe lacerations after allegedly being pistol whipped, while a 32-year old male victim had a gunshot wound. Both were taken to the hospital, with the 22-year old being treated and released, while the 32-year old remains listed in serious condition.

Charges are pending in the case and no further information was released.
