Man Attacks Cousin with Hammer in Smyth County

A Virginia man has be charged with felony assault after attacking his cousin with a hammer in Smthy County.

29-year-old Kenneth Kerwood Kilby III from Mouth of Wilson, allegedly assaulted the family member completely unprovoked. No motive is clear at this time.

Kilby does have prior charges in other counties around Southwest Virginia, including assault. He is being held without bail at the Southwest Regional jail. He’ll be transported back to Smyth county for his arraignment.
