UPDATE: SW Virginia woman convicted of cruelty in 2018 drowning of toddler daughter
A Southwest Virginia mother accused of being under the influence of drugs while her toddler daughter drowned has been found guilty of cruelty or injury to a child.
Wythe County court records show Kimberly Dawn Moore was acquitted on an abuse charge by a jury while her boyfriend Adrian Puckett entered a guilty plea.
Investigators said Moore and Puckett were both using meth in 2018 when 3-year-old Josie Burleson wandered away and then drowned in the New River.
Both will be sentenced on Dec. 2.
