Abingdon Police: Two arrested following stabbing incident Tuesday evening
A Bristol, Tennessee man is in jail following a stabbing incident Tuesday evening in Abingdon.
Police Chief Jon Holbrook says he was leaving the department around 5:30 p.m when he was flagged down in the parking lot by a person advising a woman was being assaulted across the street.
Chief Holbrook in a news release said he saw a woman pushed by someone behind a wall, and it appeared two men and a woman were fighting in the parking lot. The police chief said Matthew Mitchell, 31, of Abingdon, Virginia, was found to have been stabbed by Shane Testerman, 22.
Police say Mitchell was taken to the hospital and upon release, he was arrested and charged with assault and battery. He is being held on a $2,000 bond.
Testerman was also arrested, and charged with malicious wounding. He is being held without bond.
