NEW: Dead body discovered near Beaver Creek in Bristol, Tennessee

The remains of a dead body are being sent to a local forensic facility after they were discovered Friday afternoon in Bristol, Tennessee.

Officers were dispatched to the 6th Street Extension just off Volunteer Parkway after 2 pm and discovered the partially decomposed remains of a man ensnared on a tree that had fallen across Beaver Creek, according to a police bulletin.

Police and fire teams were able to retrieve the body which will now have to be thoroughly examined to determine a cause of death due to its condition.
