NEW: Family dispute leads to shooting death in Dickenson County
Dickenson County, Virginia Sheriff Jeremy Fleming said one man is dead and members of his family were injured during a domestic fight at a family home Monday morning.
Roy Rasnick, 32, was found dead of several gunshot wounds when officers arrived at a home in the 5600 block of Dog Branch Gap Road in Clinchco just after 8:30 a.m., the sheriff said.
Preliminary information from investigators says Roy Rasnick became involved in an argument that turned physical with his father Alton and brother James. Sometime during the fight, James Rasnick got a gun and then shot his brother.
Alton Rasnick was treated at the scene then flown to a medical facility in Johnson City for further treatment, the sheriff noted, while James Rasnick was being evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Fleming said the case remains under investigation and his office is being assisted by the Virginia State Police.
