UPDATE: COVID-19 impacts local high school football schedules in NE Tennessee

Officials with Daniel Boone High varsity football were considering a scrimmage Friday night just to get players acclimated to the upcoming season after their scheduled opponent Sullivan South had to cancel due to a COVID-19 case in their program.

The Blazers now have a team to tackle on Friday as Christian Academy of Knoxville will visit Gray for a 7:30 kickoff at Hale Stadium after their scheduled game with Volunteer High in Hawkins County was scrubbed due to one of the Falcons’ players testing positive for the virus.

The official Boone Athletics social media site said messages would be posted later this week concerning possible ticket sales for the game.
