Convicted Felon Sentenced To 8 Years For Illegal Possession Of Firearm In Southwest Virginia
A convicted felon out of North Carolina, who was pulled over for driving erratically in Southwest Virginia and found to be in possession of an illegal firearm, is sentenced in an Abingdon courtroom. 43 year old Luis Castano pleaded guilty in 2019 to illegal possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon. Castano was sentenced to 72 months for his conviction, plus an additional 24 months for a total of eight years in prison for violations of his terms of supervised release. Castano will also serve an additional 36 months of supervised release when released from prison. Castano was found to be in possession of a Bushman, AR style rifle that was loaded with 61 rounds of ammunition, with one in the chamber.
