Three State Police cruisers damaged following chase of Florida teen in Abingdon

A teenager from Florida who would not stop for troopers after a speeding violation on Interstate 81 ended up leading officers on a chase that lasted for several miles before a crash.

Correon B. Prince, 18, also rammed a state officer’s patrol cruiser after the pursuit exited the interstate at Exit 14 in Abingdon. He was eventually stopped after he tried to exit a parking lot on Bonham Road where he crashed into two more state police vehicles.

Prince was apprehended after he ran from the wreck, according to a VSP report, along with a passenger who had warrants out of Ohio. The statement said drugs and a handgun were recovered from the suspect’s car.

A state trooper was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries sustained in the chase.
