Two women seriously injured in boating incident Sunday on Douglas Lake

A woman from Unicoi and a woman from Scott County, VA are being treated for serious injuries at UT Medical Center following a boating incident Sunday on Douglas Lake.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency says Halie Padgett, 20, and Kaeley Gose, 22, were boarding an inner tube to be pulled in a rented boat operated by Hannah Wyrick, 21, of Johnson City. The TWRA says before they could get going, Padgett and Gose were struck by the boat’s propeller, causing serious injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
