JCPD: Johnson City man arrested, accused of robbing store and fleeing from police in pursuit
A Johnson City man is behind bars after police say he robbed a convenience store at gunpoint and ran from officers early Tuesday.
Johnson City Police were called to Scotchman just after 2:30 a.m and were told by a clerk that suspect Shoun Stevenson, 48, had posed as a customer and took items to the cash register, where the clerk alleges Stevenson then pulled out a gun and demanded money.
Stevenson reportedly fled the store after receiving the money. Police say they spotted the car Stevenson was in, and attempted to pull him over, but the man refused to stop, starting a pursuit that ended when Stevenson crashed his car on Barkley Road in Telford. He is facing several charges including robbery, evading arrest, and driving on a revoked license.
He is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $72,000 bond, and is due court Wednesday morning.
