Members of TVA’s nuclear management team cited by federal oversight group

Two members of Tennessee Valley Authority management have been cited by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission following reports from whistleblowers about a toxic work environment.

Joseph Shea will not be allowed in NRC-licensed facilities for five years while Erin Henderson received a violation notice, according to a report from the federal agency which reviewed activity at TVA nuclear plant sites.

The NRC statement said workers who reported to Shea and Henderson told investigators that there was a chilled work environment that resulted in employees less likely to report safety issues in fear of retaliation.
