Southwest Virginia Doctor Pleads Guilty To Misbranding
A southwest Virginia doctor pleads guilty to misbranding after dispensing Schedule Two controlled drugs without a valid prescription. 64 year old Phillip Peterson, a family medicine physician in Bluefield Virginia will spend one to three months in prison as part of his plea agreement. Peterson, saw patients who did not check in with the receptionist, but instead were called by the staff as “back door patients. The investigation revealed individuals who had not been examined by Peterson, received the drugs for years from him without a valid prescription and the drugs were issued outside the usual course of professional practice.
