Comments Made By Bristol School Board Chairman, Don’t Represent Beliefs of Bristol School System…According To Superintendent
The recent controversial comments made by Bristol Virginia School Board Chairman Steve Fletcher do not represent the beliefs, vision and ideas of Bristol Virginia Public Schools. That’s the opinion from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Keith Perrigan. Perrigan made the comments in a letter to students, parents and citizens of Bristol on Tuesday. Fletcher made the comments in an exchange on Facebook. Fletcher commented on a graphic shared depicting a black man being shot by police while a white male with a gun walked by. The caption under the graphic read, “This is America.” Dr. Perrigan went on to say that Fletcher’s comments were not made in Mr. Fletcher’s capacity as Board Chairman.
