UPDATE: Attempted murder suspect in Kingsport captured

UPDATE, 1 p.m.

Kingsport police reported Thursday afternoon that Jacob R. Hayes was taken into custody without incident at a residence in the 200 block of Easy Street.

A gunman remains at large following a Thursday morning shooting in Kingsport.

A report from the Kingsport Police Department said a 19-year-old male victim was found on Ash Street just after 4 am with several gunshot wounds. He is listed in serious but stable condition.

Investigators determined that Jacob R. Hayes shot the victim following an argument and fled the scene in a green box-style type vehicle. Hayes, 20, is charged with attempted second-degree murder and is considered armed and dangerous.

Hayes has a listed address of 3208 Sullivan Gardens Parkway and is a white male standing 5 feet 8 inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes.

Kingsport police are accepting anonymous tips that will lead to Hayes capture.
