Virginia Tech searching for more dorm rooms to quarantine 500 students with virus
Current Virginia Tech students on campus are being given discounts if they agree to move to other accommodations while school officials try to find more space to quarantine students with COVID-19.
The Blacksburg school reported only 30 percent quarantine capacity with 500 students now being treated after testing positive for the virus.
At neighboring Appalachian State in Boone, school leaders are creating more pop-up testing sites after their virus count climbed to 300 during the week. Those new numbers include clusters of COVID reported in the school’s football and wrestling programs.
