NEW: Johnson City teen charged with rape of a child

A teenager was taken into custody on Friday and charged with one count of rape of a child, according to a report from the Johnson City Police Department.

The 17-year-old juvenile is accused of raping a minor at a location on East Fairview Avenue, the report said.

The teen remains jailed and is scheduled for a hearing in Johnson City Juvenile Court.
