VSP: Marion motorcycle rider killed in Sunday afternoon crash

A motorcycle rider is dead following a weekend crash in Smyth County, Virginia.

The Virginia State Police said Randy L. Trail, 52, of Marion, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck that occurred just after 5:30 Sunday evening.

A preliminary investigation reveals Trail was operating the bike in the 200 block of Shawnee Trail Road when it crossed into the path of an oncoming truck.

The driver of the pickup was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
