Official: Hard Rock intending to apply for sports betting license in VA as part of proposed Bristol Hotel & Casino
Officials with Hard Rock say they intend to apply for a sports betting license in Virginia should the proposed Hotel and Casino in Bristol be approved by voters.
Sean Caffery, Hard Rock’s Senior Vice President of Casino and Business Development, confirmed that during the 3D model unveiling of the Bristol Hotel on Thursday, and also made these remarks about the company’s views on sports betting.
“As we look at the expansion of gaming across the United States, sports betting continues to be one of the areas that broadens that, and brings in a broader, diverse group of people, which we think is a valued add,” said Caffery.
The Virginia Lottery earlier this week gave the nod to framework for its sports betting policies in the Commonwealth, which includes an opportunity for casinos and online betting platforms to apply for a total of 18 betting licenses. The proposed Hotel and Casino for Bristol is up for a referendum vote in the upcoming November election.
