COVID cases forces Tennessee Titans to shut down operations, puts home opener against Steelers in doubt
The National Football League now has its first cases of COVID in its ranks and the focus of the sporting world will be on Nashville.
The Tennessee Titans become the first franchise to deal with the virus in one of America’s most visible leagues with eight total cases reported. That includes three cases involving players and five in support personnel.
ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported the first case was confirmed on Saturday just before the team departed for Minnesota for a game with the Vikings on Sunday. That franchise has also closed all facilities and canceled practices for the remainder of the week.
That places the Titans’ home opener against the Steelers scheduled for Sunday in doubt. That was also one of the first games in the NFL that would allow a limited capacity of fans into Nissan Stadium.
