Sullivan Commissioners Want Moratorium On Any Further Standardized Testing For 2020-2021
Sullivan County Commissioners want a moratorium on end of year examinations, end of course exams, and formative assessments throughout the 2020-2021 school year for Sullivan County students due to COVID-19. Commissioners will meet this Thursday and say they support the measure in an effort to permit school districts to focus on recoupment of students’ academic and social emotional skills lost during the extended school closure due to the pandemic. Commissioners are asking if testing does continue, that the test scores be used as a metric of student progress, rather than to determine district rankings or student grades as well as evaluations for teachers and administrators.
