NEW: Northam dedicates more millions in CARE funding to help Virginia public schools
Virginia Governor Ralph Northam announced Thursday the allocation of more CARES Act funding that will be sent to all 132 school divisions in the Commonwealth.
The $220 million is split among the systems based on the school census for the fall semester based at $175 per pupil and is to be used on pandemic supplies like personal protection masks and technology for remote classes.
Northam announced Wednesday that an additional $12 million was being spent to improve internet and wifi capabilities in underserved areas of the state.
