Drug Takeback Day scheduled for Saturday in Abingdon, VA and Greene County, TN

A pair of drug takeback days are scheduled for Saturday in Northeast TN and Southwest VA.

In Abingdon, Va the Washington County, Va Sheriff’s Office is one of the sponsors of the event which will be held from 10 a.m-2 p.m at Food City and will be drive-thru only due to COVID-19. In Greene County, the Greene County Sheriff’s Department will be at South Greene and West Greene High School from 10 a.m-2 p.m.

The two collection sites will also be following local COVID-19 guidelines and regulations. Both events are apart of the National Prescription Drug Takeback Day also sponsored by the DEA.

Prescription medications including those that are unwanted, expired, or unused will be among items accepted in Abingdon, while pills and patches will only be accepted in Greene County.
