Police: Greeneville mother and father facing child abuse charges after toddler daughter found in street with cuts to her feet
A mother and father in Greeneville are facing child abuse charges after police found their two-year old daughter in the street with cuts to her feet.
Greeneville Police were called to the 500 block of Acton Ct. just after 2 a.m Tuesday where they found a two year old being held by witnesses in the street. The child did not need medical attention for her cuts, but the Department of Children’s Services was called to the scene, and police along with DCS went to the home of suspects Ryan Phillips and Robin Blatz.
Police made contact with Phillips, who was asleep in his bedroom. He was escorted out of the home and sat with the child until a DCS agent arrived on scene. He was arrested and while in custody, reportedly became irate and headbutted the police vehicle’s trunk three times, leaving dents in the car. Police added additional vandalism and resisting arrest charges against Phillips.
DCS viewed the home where the toddler was staying and called it unbearable, noting things like trash piled up in the living room floor, several drug paraphernalia items found in the master bedroom, and cigarette burns found in the child’s bedroom. Blatz told police she had not been staying at the home at night for two months, but police also arrested her on abuse charges for not reporting about the condition of the home.
