Johnson City Reverses Course, Will Not Open Memorial Park Community Center…Sites COVID-19 Surge
In a response to a sharp increase in local COVID-19 cases and an added burden to the local healthcare system, the City of Johnson City is postponing the reopening of Memorial Park Community Center as well as youth and adult baskteball. City Manager Pete Peterson says in a news release Monday, the pandemic has reached a far more critical level that the city has seen before. Peterson also says the city is working closely with local health officials and are currently evaluating all City programs, events and operations to determine if other modifications need to be made. Johnson City officials will continuously monitor the situation to determine when the Center can be reopened.
