West Virginia Man Charged With Second Degree Murder, Hit And Run Death In Southwest Virginia

In an update to a story we first told you about on Thursday, a West Virginia man is in custody on charges related to an ongoing death investigation in Southwest Virginia. According to Virginia State Police, 58 year old Gilbert Lee Riggs, of Bluefield, is being held pending extradition back to Bland County. That’s where authorities discovered a woman’s body off Interstate 77 in a gravel lot near the intersection of Arrowhead Drive and route 666 at Indian Village Trail off Exit 58 near Bastian Thursday morning. Riggs, is charged with second degree murder and one felony count of hit and run. Virginia State Police are awaiting positive identification of the body following an autopsy.
