Changes Being Made To Kingsport’s Development Process As Housing Market Grows
During the past six years, the city of Kingsport has seen a rapid increase in construction of new apartment units and the demand for single family housing has escalated as well. To meet demand, city development officials are making some changes to its development process. And as a result of a recent housing summit the city has implemented a clearly defined, efficient development process. Among other changes that hopefully will streamline the system, include making the city’s most popular zoning district more flexible regarding what can be built and conducting a review of subdivision regulations to ensure they are user friendly and on par with other surrounding areas. Since the recent changes several rezonings have been approved paving the way for more than 200 new housing units in the city.
