WCSO: Johnson City man charged with rape of a 16-year old

A Johnson City man is facing statutory rape charges of a 16 year old minor.

Evidence presented to a Washington County, TN grand jury last week accuses 30-year old Andrea Tate of having a sexual relationship with the underage teen, following an investigation by Sheriff Ed Graybeal’s office which began in June. Tate is now charged with aggravated statutory rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Tate was already in jail being held on unrelated charges and is now being held on a $10,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on the rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor charges in Feb.
