Towering: VDOT opens tallest bridge in state to traffic in Buchanan County
The tallest bridge in the Commonwealth of Virginia was officially opened to traffic on Monday.
The Route 460 Connectors span the length of Grassy Creek in Buchanan County near Breaks Interstate Park—measuring in at 1,700 feet long and more than 260 feet high, according to the stats provided by the Department of Transportation.
Crews worked for nine years to erect the twin bridges that will be part of a transportation corridor that will join improvements on Route 460 in neighboring Kentucky.
