UPDATE: Man convicted of murdering couple with Hawkins County ties receives two life sentences
A former LSU medical student received two life sentences Thursday for the murder and mutilation of his parents who were planning to spend their retirement in Hawkins County, Tennessee.
A Knox County jury found Joel Guy, Jr., guilty last month in the gruesome deaths of Lisa and Joel Guy, Sr., at their home during Thanksgiving weekend in 2016. Prosecutors said Guy killed the couple after they told him they were no longer supporting him financially.
The parents were stabbed multiple times then dismembered by Guy who dissolved a portion of their remains with chemicals.
